Who is responsible to throw the shower for the bride?

I always thought it was the bridesmaids.

But if the bridesmaids are hosting a bachelorette party, who throws the showers?

I thought it was your maid of honor.
My mom and mother-in-law did all of mine. They fought my sister for it. I had to very excited to help moms.

I always thought that the moms weren't suppose to throw the showers since they are paying for the weddings.

As an Aunt, I threw the shower for my neice.  My sisters and I did it together since no one else was going to do it.

It's proper for the bride's parents to pay for the wedding but the maid of honor is suppose to host the shower. If they host a bachlorette party instead then I think either the mother in law or mother to step up and do it.It doesn't need to be lavish and overdone.

I had 2 showers. One was from my coworkers. She was also my maid of honor. She threw one at work and even the male managers and guy friends of mine came.It was nice. They did the same for my baby shower.I loved it.
My mom also threw a bridal shower for me.That was the larger one with family that wasn't invited to the wedding reception due to not having space and more money for it.

I had 3 showers also.  I had one throw by the aunts on my husbands side.  They invited all the relatives from his side.

I had another one thrown by my sisters.  This one they invited all the relatives on my side.

Then my maid of honor and bridesmaids threw one for friends.

We never invite people to the shower that aren't going to be invited to the wedding.  I would think it is like telling them you want a gift , but too bad they won't fit at the wedding reception.

Did your relatives get offended by this?

My aunts understood. It wasn't about getting a gift from them at all.It was about them sharing in the marriage I was going to have with my husband.
