Do you think open bar is a good idea?
This is what we did and it cost a small fortune.
Thinking back I wish we would have chose one of our other options....
open bar for 2 hours.
Limited open -serving just wine and a specific beer.
First come- purchased a certain amount and when it's gone it's gone.

We had a dry reception. First because the location wouldn't allow alchohol and 2 because I didn't want more issues. My husband and I rarely drink plus I was already pregnant at the time.We bought sparkling grape juice instead. If there is an open bar I think within a certain time frame or having them pay for there own drinks is good enough.

Gotta love a reception with an open bar:)

At my wedding, we had punch bowls.  One had a wine punch, one whiskey punch, one vodka punch and then we had a fruit punch for the people who didnt drink and the kids.
We also had beer on tap.

It cost alot this way too, but I believe alot cheaper than an open bar.

Most weddings I have been to do the punch bowls.

I actually think I like the idea of punch bowls or just  wine and maybe a full flavor and a light beer and maybe wine coolers . And make everything else a BYOD (Bring-Your-Own-Drinks) lol. But I do not want a bunch of hard liquor I can see how that could turn into issues possibly.

I don't think I would recommend byob as then you may get the hard liquor that you didn't want.

Just have a wine punch and beer.  People aren't coming to the reception for the alcoloh~ or at least they shouldn't be.  They should be going to celebrate your marriage.
