How many people still do this?  It's the dollar dance-  where the bride and groom dance with whoever pays the $1 or more depending on how much they want to give.  It's a great way to get extra money for the honeymoon or a down-payment on the house.
I think it's a great thing to do and I always look forward to it.  I usually give $5 to dance with the groom- You don't dance for long-- just a couple times around the dance floor.

I think that alot of people still do this.  I usually dance with the bride if she is a close friend of mine.  Then I go over and dance with the groom too.

I think that the kids at the weddings love dancing with the bride and groom too.  So this is a great way for everyone to get a moment to say congrats and help the couple get a few extra bucks.

How sweet- I can remember at my SIL's wedding. My sig other danced with his brother- it was hysterical!  He did give him $20 though- so they let him.
I find it adorable when the kids get out there and dance too.  My daughter likes to -- she only gives $1. Smiley

We also still do that.Almost every wedding I've been to has had that.I usually dance with the bride and groom. It depends on how close I am to the couple.I at least dance with the one I know the best.

We didn't make out well with ours though. It seems that everyone that wasn't in my family danced with us and gave more.It was disapointing really.

I guess it all depends on the guests there too.  It would be very sad if they announce the dollar dance and no one goes up to dance with the bride and groom

Every wedding we go to we make sure to have dollar bills with us for the dance and to tip the bartender.

So people didn't dance for yours? Is that why you were disappointed?  I have seen some bride and grooms come away with $500 during this- Just depends on how many people you have at the reception.

No, everyone pretty much danced with us other than our family! We didn't make out well at all.Actually I got more money from my close friends family then my own. But....my family didn't want to dance much at all.My grandparents did to the slow songs. But, not much of our family danced with us.I think more people danced with my husband then me.My aunt and her husband and my grandpa are the ones from our family that really did much. From my husbands side..well only his grandma and step-grandpa showed and they danced with us too.

That is too bad- well at least you had friends there to dance with as well.
I still think the dollar dance is a great idea!

We did this during our reception and it was a lot of fun. We made out with a whopping $1800 from the dollar dance alone (figuring we had 125 guests there, that was way more than we had expected). We blew through most of it on our honeymoon! lol

I did this at my wedding. It was fun and I think we got like $500 out of the deal. We actually donated the cash to our local volunteer fire company:)
