I am invited to my friend dinner next weekend. I am just wondering how much cash should I give them as a gift for their wedding? What is the typical amount? I don't want to give too little as it will put a dent in my dignity but paying ways too much hurt my pockets.

Wow. Tough one. On average I got about $50 a person. My grandparents and close aunts and uncles gave me $100. My parents and in laws gave us $500. I would say $25 or $50. She'll appreciate it. It isn't about the amount.

I think about $50.00 is a good average amount. That's what we do for most weddings we go to.Sometimes we give a card with 1/2 cash and spend a portion for a gift to go along with.It depends on the person's wedding and how close I am to them.

I think this is the best idea. Throw in a small gift with the cash. You may be able to find something for an incredible deal and then perhaps just throw in $20 with it. They will think you spent more than you did.

Wow! Cash plus gift will put you above the crowd. That's smart.

Exactly! I love bed bath and beyond coupons! I try to take advantage of them if we need something there.Kohls also is great for wedding gifts.

I do the same thing generally for bridal shows.I try to get a small gift card and then I try to get a basket together with some basics like towels, dishclothes, and some basic kitchen items.

You could also give them a nice picture frame.  They are always on sale at the Hallmark stores and then put $20 with it.

I think that $50 is alot to give unless it is a close friend or family member.  I usually give $25 if I am not that close with the person.

It totally depends on how close you are.  Remember there is the bridal shower gift and then the cash gift at the wedding.  I always give a gift at the shower and cash at the wedding in the card.  I'm not big on giving gifts at the actual wedding.
If it is someone very close to you (friend) $50 is great!  If it's family and close $100 - that is what I do.
Yes ship around for the bridal shower gifts- you can get great deals!

I always give a gift for the shower too.  You also have to take into consideration if you are in the wedding.  Then you have already forked out money for the shower, dresses, hair ect.

I think it is nice to give money for the wedding unless you have made a special gift for the bride and groom.
