Should the bride and groom stay until the end of the reception?

I have been to weddings where the bride and groom stay until the end of the reception and others where they leave before the guest do.

What do you think is the appropriate thing to do?

At my wedding, we stayed and opened our gifts so the guests could see what we got.

It all depends on what the bride and groom are planning afterward, I guess. I have been to weddings where both happened. In my own wedding, we stayed until everyone except the "clean-up crew" (ie: our parents) left.

My wife and I left before everyone was gone. We welcomed everyone to stay and enjoy themselfs but we had to get to the airport. We did stay for about 4 hours but everyone was having such a nice time we hated to hurry everyone out.
